Turksat 5A communications satellite, which was manufactured at Airbus Defence and Space facilities in Toulouse, France, will be shipped to Cape Canaveral Space Launch Complex in Florida. The launch is scheduled for 5 January 2021 aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from SpaceX spaceport after completing the final stages of pre-launch preparation.

Turksat 5A will secure orbital and frequency rights of Turkey at 31° East for around 30 years period with its orbital maneuver life. Upon being operational with 10 kW payload power, Turksat 5A is to be the most powerful satellite of the Turksat fleet and will provide TV broadcasting and data communication services across a wide area covering Turkey, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Central West Africa, South Africa, the Mediterranean, the Aegean Sea and the Black Sea.
